A Simple Guide to Thriving Through Hormonal Changes

When I entered menopause, I figured I’d have a few hot flashes and maybe some sleep disruptions—but I wasn’t prepared for how much it would affect my mood, energy, and my sense of self. It took quite a bit of reading, reflecting and listening to my body to realize what I was experiencing. Many of my friends tickle me with the “Mom you didn’t tell me it was going to be like this.”

One day I’d feel like myself, and the next I am fatigued with crazy brain fog. If that resonates with you, you're not alone. The good news is that in 2025, we have more tools, resources, and community than ever to help us navigate this natural transition with strength and confidence. Menopause isn't just a hormonal shift—it's a life stage that deserves attention, support, and celebration. The sooner you understand what got you to this stage will absolutely not work for you in this new stage of life.

Today’s menopause makeover is rooted in holistic wellness. Women are as I have chosen to embrace an anti-inflammatory diet rich in whole foods like leafy greens, legumes, nuts, and omega-3s, while also cutting back on sugar, alcohol, and ultra-processed foods that throw hormones off balance. Many, like me, are turning to strength training and weight-bearing exercises to preserve muscle and bone health—especially important as estrogen declines. Natural remedies like maca root, black cohosh, and ashwagandha are gaining popularity, alongside mindfulness practices that help reduce cortisol and ease anxiety. For some, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a powerful option, and thankfully, the stigma around it is lifting.

The bottom line? Menopause doesn’t have to feel like a slow unraveling—it can be a powerful reset, a chance to tune in and take better care of your body than ever before. See this as your time to thrive!
