If you don’t follow us on Instagram, please do us a favor and head on over to @theearringsoffpodcast and do so. You just may find some inspiration through our posts to make your days a bit brighter.
Earrings Off co-host Teresa and I rotate who is responsible for the posts each week. Some posts include a quote and our thoughts on the quote. Refraining from displaying any semblance of modesty, I must say that some of them are quite good and have helped me through some days in 2023 that were very challenging. In case you missed them I am going to cite just a few from this year which hopefully will help set your tone for 2024.
· “Forgive yourself for what you have tolerated in the past.” Mantra Magazine
Poet Laureate Maya Angelou said, “When you know better, you do better.” Well now you know. That was then. This is now. Confidently move forward. Eyes open. Shoulders back.
· “Maturity is working through your trauma and not using it as an excuse for poor behavior.” Ellie Anthony
I’m sorry that happened to you. Resolve to do the hard work to move beyond it. Don’t let the bad guys win.
· “Only a fool tests the depth of a river with both feet.” African proverb
“Caution” is not a bad word. Society wants us to believe you only win when you are aggressive and fearless. Don’t believe that. Listen to your gut and take the needed time to properly assess the situation/event/relationship before jumping right in.
· “Be careful with the stories you tell about yourself.” Glennon Doyle
It’s bad to romanticize others. What’s even worse than that is not seeing yourself for who you really are. The first step is recognizing the truth about yourself. None of us are perfect; however, as long as you are breathing you have a chance to write the story you want. No fictional account will be needed.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made. May you walk in that truth in 2024!
